Who is Veronica Mauvis

I have been gardening all my life. Close me up in an apartment with no garden and I will get a tin and grow something!

I have also gardened in different countries – quite a learning curve getting to know different soil and weather conditions. However I find gardening is one of the most rewarding hobbies you can have. There is something about plants that I find soothing.

I became passionate about herbs after an experience I had in Portugal.

A business colleague on the Algarve in the south of Portugal was writing a book on Algarvean herbs.  Algarve has a Mediterranean climate which is where many herbs originated.  The way she spoke peaked my interest and  I  went to see her herbal garden.

I expected to see  a highly organized gardening endeavor complete with labeled plants and perhaps a germination shed.  Imagine then my reaction when there was no evidence of a garden at all.  Merely wild land covered in plants and weeds.   The  tour began.  We walked round plants that I had seen often in the wild and she began to describe the benefits of each plant.    By the end of the tour two hours later when we had covered only a couple of hectares of land,  I was fascinated.

That was the beginning of my journey to know and understand herbs plants better.

Good herbs gardening!
